Cut down on your chances of crashing

California motorcycle riders can do a lot to keep themselves safer on the road. For example, examining the disadvantages of riding a motorcycle and planning accordingly to counteract those issues can go quite far in avoiding accidents.

One big way to cut down on potential accidents is mentioned by Cycleworld. They remind drivers that they should never drive in blind spots. Blind spots exist any place where a driver of another vehicle can't see with their mirrors or by looking around easily. They're also dangerous because some motorcyclists make the assumption that drivers will check thoroughly before merging, which unfortunately doesn't always happen. In order to cut down on potential injury, motorcyclists are better off assuming that drivers will not check their blind spots. They should travel through the blind spot quickly, limiting the time they're "invisible".

Other issues are listed off by Quora, which states that motorcycle disadvantages can be quite varied. For example, a motorcyclist has to pay close attention to the weather. While driving in the rain may be an inconvenience to people in covered vehicles, it can be potentially fatal to motorcyclists, especially those who don't have a lot of practice with wet road driving. Snow can be veritably impossible to traverse through. Even small patches of black ice can prove to be enough to send a motorcycle sliding across the ground. Little road hazards like potholes or metal plates can also be disastrous.

Essentially, a motorcyclist should always be aware of their surroundings, even more than a driver in a covered vehicle. One wrong move could result in a crash, so countermeasures should always be in place to avoid that outcome.
